The first workshop within the project Riliam (Regional Innovation Laboratory for Industrial Automation and Mechatronics, HUSRB/1602/41/0012) has been successfully held in Szeged. Having started from July 2018, the project aims at supporting SMEs dealing with industrial automation and industrial robotics, and increasing entrepreneurial competitiveness in the region. In the project two innovation competence laboratories will be created. The workshop on 18 December 2018 was attended by interested participants, and the project partners also represented themselves, including the Subotica Tech – College of Applied Sciences, the University of Szeged, the Business Incubator in Subotica, and the Chamber of Commerce and Industry Csongrad County.
The topic of our first workshop were the entrepreneurial challenges and opportunities in the cross-border region, peresented by Szilvia Sárközi, partner relations executive of CERTOP Product and System Certification Kft. As stated in her presentation, the most important challenges for small and medium-sized enterprises is the international market, the effects of digitization, the generation gap and the leack of knowledge related to different legislations. The expert emphasised the importance of developing the right strategy, finding new markets, or expanding the product range. The workshop ended with an active conversation whereby the participants discussed the practical benefits of the laboratories and the opportunities offered by the project.
The next project events will be organised during the spring, including trainings, and workshops on different areas of entrepreneurial skills, including the development of companies’ communication and marketing activities.
